The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for 13 states due to a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal. The weather system, currently positioned over northeast Assam in the lower tropospheric levels, is expected to bring thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rainfall to several regions in Northeast India in the coming days.The IMD has predicted signicant rainfall activity in Arunachal Pradesh,
Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Arunachal Pradesh will experience scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall and snowfall from February 17 to February 23, with heavy rainfall expected on February 19. Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will see isolated to scattered light rainfall over the same period. Thunderstorm and lightning activity will intensify from February 18 to February 20. On February 19, gusty winds between 30-40 km/h are expected in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

As the disturbance moves eastward, light rainfall and thunderstorms are expected in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand on February 19-20. In western India, isolated light rainfall is predicted in West Rajasthan on February 19. Punjab and Haryana will experience light rainfall from February 19-20, while East Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh will see similar conditions during the same period. Chhattisgarh will have light rainfall from February 21-22.

Snowfall in Himalayan Region Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will experience scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall and snowfall on February 19-20, with thunderstorms and lightning also expected. Isolated light rainfall and snowfall will continue in these regions from February 21-23.
