Shiv Jayanti 2025: Major Traffic Restrictions and Alternate Routes in Pune for February 19

From 6 AM on February 19 until the processions conclude, all types of traffic movement on Laxmi Road, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road, and Bajirao Road will be restricted.
Pune: In view of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti celebrations on February 19, multiple processions will take place across key roads in the city, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road, Laxmi Road, Bajirao Road, Jangli Maharaj Road, Gopal Krishna Gokhale (Fergusson) Road, and Kelkar Road. Additionally, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has organized the ‘Jai Shivaji Jai Bharat’ foot march, further necessitating temporary traffic diversion.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amol Zende, the traffic restrictions will be in effect from 6 AM on February 19 until the processions conclude. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly and use alternative routes.

‘Jai Shivaji Jai Bharat’ Foot March Route and Traffic Changes The foot march will proceed through the following route: nCOEP Engineering College → S. G. Barve Chowk → SSPMS College → Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue → Modern Chowk → Jhansi Rani Chowk → Khanduji Baba Chowk → Goodluck Chowk → Fergusson College Ground nDue to this event, vehicular movement on Jangli Maharaj Road and Fergusson College Road will be restricted from 7 AM to 2 PM.

Traffic Diversions and Alternative Routes

Jangli Maharaj Road Closure: Traffic will be restricted between Sancheti Hospital Chowk and Khanduji Baba Chowk as needed. Alternative Route: Vehicles from COEP Engineering College Chowk will be diverted via Kamgar Putala, Jawaharlal Nehru Road, and Mahatma Gandhi Road. Those heading towards Baner, Pashan, Kothrud, and Karve Road will be redirected via Simla Office Chowk, Veer Chafekar Flyover, and Senapati Bapat Road Fergusson College Road Closure: Traffic will be restricted from Khanduji Baba Chowk to Fergusson College entrance and Veer Chafekar Chowk. Alternative Route: Vehicles from Kothrud and Karve Road will be rerouted via SNDT Corner, Law College Road, Senapati Bapat Road, and Nal Stop Chowk through Kanheri Road Lokmanya Tilak Road Closure: Traffic from Lokmanya Tilak Road towards Khanduji Baba Chowk will be restricted. Alternative Route: Vehicles from Alka Talkies Chowk will be redirected via Lal Bahadur Shastri Road, Senadatta Chowk, and Nal Stop.

Kelkar Road Closure: Traffic from Kelkar Road towards Z Bridge and Deccan will be restricted as needed. Alternative Route: Vehicles will be diverted via Garud Ganpati Chowk, Lokmanya Tilak Chowk, and Lal Bahadur Shastri RoadBhide Bridge Closure: Traffic from Bhide Bridge towards Deccan will be restricted. Alternative Route: Vehicles will be rerouted via Z Bridge, Garud Ganpati Chowk, Lokmanya Tilak Chowk, and Lal Bahadur Shastri Road Parking Arrangements Sangamwadi Parking: Vehicles coming from Khadki and Yerawada RTO Office must park here. Riverbed Parking: Vehicles from Karve Road and Kothrud should use Alka Talkies Chowk and park in the riverbed. VIPs, organizers, and sports officials should use Fergusson College parking. Senadatta-Alka Talkies Riverbed Parking: Vehicles from Swargate, Hadapsar, and Dandekar Bridge should use this parking area. Agriculture College Ground: Vehicles from Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pashan, and Baner Road should park here.

Traffic Restrictions for the Main Shiv Jayanti Procession From 6 AM on February 19 until the processions conclude, all types of traffic movement on Laxmi Road, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road, and Bajirao Road will be restricted. Swargate-bound traffic from Jijamata Chowk must take an alternative route via S. G. Barve Chowk, Jangli Maharaj Road, Khanduji Baba Chowk, and Lokmanya Tilak Road once the foot march concludes.
