Chennai Rains: Chennai is set to experience cloudy skies and light rainfall between February 27 and March 2 due to a cyclonic circulation over south Tamil Nadu. While daytime temperatures may drop slightly, nights could become warmer, reaching up to 25 deg C. Chennai: As the pre-summer season approaches, Chennai and its suburbs might get a pleasant break from the rising temperatures, with cloudy skies and light rainfall expected between February 27 and March 2.
Private forecasters and weather bloggers predict that while the bulk of the rain will be in southern Tamil Nadu, Chennai could still see some light spells towards the end of February, as per a TOI report. The cyclonic circulation will travel from the Andamans and the adjoining areas to Sri Lanka and south Tamil Nadu. The rain activity will be more in the south compared to the north. But Chennai may receive some light spells,” said Mahesh Palawat, chief meteorologist at Skymet Weather.
Temperature Fluctuations Expected The IMD has indicated that maximum temperatures in parts of Tamil Nadu will be 2 degrees Celsius-3 degrees Celsius above normal
from February 24 to 26, but a slight dip is expected on February 27 and 28. “Maximum temperature is likely to be 2 degrees Celsius3 degrees Celsius above normal at isolated pockets of Tamil Nadu from Feb 24 to 26 and a slight fall is likely during the subsequent two days on Feb 27 and 28,” an IMD bulletin stated.
On Tuesday, Chennai is likely to experience mist or haze in the morning, with daytime temperatures hovering around 32 degrees Celsius-33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may stay at 23 degrees Celsius. Skies are expected to be partly cloudy. Rainfall over coastal areas is predicted to start on February 26, gradually extending to the city. Day temperatures may drop by 2
degrees Celsius in and around the city. But night temperatures may rise and even touch 25 degrees Celsius.
