Starting February 11, 2025, the Panvel exit on the Mumbai-bound side of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway will be closed for six months due to the construction of a flyover and underpass at Kalamboli Circle. This closure affects vehicles traveling towards Panvel, Mumbra, JNPT, Taloja, Kalyan, and Shilphata.
Alternative Routes:
- For Panvel, Goa, and JNPT-bound vehicles: Approximately 9.6 km before the Panvel exit, at Kon Phata, take a left turn to reach Palaspe Circle and connect to National Highway 48 (Delhi-Chennai Highway) to continue your journey.
- For vehicles heading towards Taloja, Kalyan, and Shilphata: Instead of taking the Panvel exit, descend from the expressway at Kalamboli and proceed along the Sion-Panvel Highway. From there, take a right turn under the flyover near Purusharth Petrol Pump to reach Roadpali and continue towards NH-48.
- Vehicles traveling from Pune to access the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), also known as Atal Setu, will not be affected by this closure. These vehicles will be diverted from the service road at Kon Phata without any additional detours.
The construction at Kalamboli Circle aims to ease traffic congestion by allowing vehicles traveling towards Panvel, JNPT, and Goa to bypass multiple traffic signals, thereby improving travel time and reducing congestion in the area.
