Mumbai: Western Railway announces 10 hour mega block between Friday & Sunday | Details

The Western Railway (WR) in Mumbai announced a major 9.5-hour mega block between Bandra and Mahim on January 24th, impacting numerous train services.

The Western Railway (WR) has announced a 9.5-hour mega block on Friday between Bandra and Mahim. The mega block will be effective from 11 pm tonight January 24. Passengers are advised not to wait for the train at 6 stations including Mahalaxmi, Lower Parel, Prabhadevi, Matunga Road, Mahim and Khar Road. During the mega block period, the WR will perform mending work on a British-era bridge on the Mithi River.

Between January 24-25 (Friday/Saturday), 127 trains will be cancelled while 150 train services will be cancelled on January 25-26 (Saturday/Sunday). According to the announcement, after 11 pm on Friday, all slow train services departing from Churchgate, Virar, Bhayandar, and Borivali will run on the fast line between Mumbai Central and Santacruz, skipping six stations. The departure of the last train from Churchgate to Borivali will be at 1 am.

Announcement by WR for Friday/Saturday:
Last Slow service towards Virar will depart Churchgate at 23:58 hrs.

All Slow services departing Churchgate after 23.00 hrs on Friday, will run on Fast Line between Mumbai Central & Santacruz and hence will not halt at Mahalaxmi, Lower Parel, Prabhadevi, Matunga Road, Mahim and Khar Road stations.

Similarly, after 23:00 hrs, all Slow services departing Virar, Bhayandar and Borivali will be run on the Fast line between Santacruz and Mumbai Central, hence will not halt at Khar Road, Mahim, Matunga Road, Prabhadevi, Lower Parel and Mahalaxmi stations.

During the execution of work, services between Churchgate and Dadar will be operated on Fast lines.

Some Western & Central Railway services between Goregaon and Bandra will be operated on Harbour lines.

Announcement by WR for Saturday/Sunday :

On 25th January, 2025 i.e. Saturday early morning, Slow & Fast services originating from Virar, Nallasopara, Vasai Road, Bhayandar and Borivali will run up to Andheri only.

First Fast train service for Churchgate after block will depart from Virar at 05:47 am and reach Churchgate at 07:05 am.

First Down Fast line service after block will depart from Churchgate at 06:14 hrs.

First Down Slow line service after block will depart from Churchgate at 08:03 hrs.

On Friday/Saturday around 127 Suburban services will remain cancelled & 60 services will remain partially cancelled.

During the execution of work, services between Churchgate and Dadar will operate on Fast lines.

On Saturday night/Sunday morning, both Slow and Fast services originating from Virar, Nallasopara, Vasai Road, Bhayandar and Borivali will run up to Andheri.

Some Western & Central Railway services between Goregaon and Bandra will be operated on Harbour lines.

The last local on the UP Fast line will be Virar-Churchgate ex Virar at 10:07 pm and on the UP Slow line will be Borivali – Churchgate ex Borivali at 10:22 pm.

The last local on the DOWN Fast line will be Churchgate – Borivali ex Churchgate at 10:33 pm and the last on the DOWN Slow line will be Churchgate Churchgate at 10:26 pm. These trains will be extended up to Virar. Bhayandar ex

The first train after the block on the DOWN Fast line will be Churchgate Virar ex Churchgate at 08:35 hrs and the first train on the DOWN Slow line will be Churchgate – Borivali ex Churchgate at 08:35 hrs.

The first train after the block on the UP Fast line will be Virar – Churchgate ex Virar at 07:38 hrs and the first train on the UP Slow line will be Virar – Churchgate ex Virar at 07:35 hrs.

On Saturday/Sunday approx. 150 Suburban services will remain cancelled & 90 services will remain partially cancelled.
