Rekha Gupta, a rst-time Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Shalimar Bagh, will be sworn in today as Delhi’s= Chief Minister. The oath-taking ceremony will take place at noon at Ramlila Maidan, a venue with deep political and cultural signicance. This marks a major shift in Delhi’s political landscape, as the BJP returns to power selected as Leader of the House in the BJP legislature party meeting on Wednesday evening, bringing an end to 11 days of speculation over who woul be the party’s choice for the top post. after 26 years.

Fourth oman to Hold Delhi’s Top Post Gupta will be the fourth woman to serve as Chief Minister of Delhi, following in the footsteps of Sushma Swaraj, Sheila Dikshit, and Atishi. Once she takes the oath, she will be one of only two women currently serving as Chief Minister in India, alongside Mamata Banerjee. Additionally, she will be the sole female Chief Minister in any BJP-ruled state at present.

A Grand Swearing-in Ceremony The event is set to be a high-prole aair, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states
expected to attend. Over 50 lm stars, industrialists, and diplomats from major countries have also been invited. A cultural programme will precede the oath-taking, featuring a performance
by singer Kailash Kher. Spiritual leaders, including Baba Ramdev, Swami Chidananda, and Baba Bageshwar Dhirendra Shastri, will also be present. The
gathering will include farmers from Delhi and beneciaries of central government schemes such as Laadli Behna.

Gupta’s Cabinet and Governance Plans Gupta will be joined by six ministers in her new cabinet. While the nal list has yet to be oicially announced, sources suggest that Manjinder Sirsa,
Ashish Sood, Pankaj Kumar Singh, Ravinder Singh Indraj, Kapil Mishra, and Parvesh Verma are likely candidates. Gupta’s leadership comes at a critical time for Delhi, following a turbulent
political phase. The AAP government, led by Arvind Kejriwal, faced corruption allegations that led to multiple leaders, including Kejriwal and his thendeputy Manish Sisodia, spending months in jail. This paved the way for BJP’s landslide victory, securing 48 out of 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly, signicantly reducing AAP’s previous dominance.

Security and Traffic Arrangements Delhi Police has deployed more than 25,000 personnel and over 15 paramilitary force units to maintain order at the event. A senior police police stated, “We have deployed more than 25,000 police personnel and over 15 companies of paramilitary forces.” He further added, “Robust security arrangements have been made to ensure law and order.
